1)Large fibroids might increase the risk of ureter or bladder injury during surgery. 2) Large fibroids, even if asymptomatic, might begin to degenerate or burst. 3) Large fibroids of 4 to 6 inches in diameter may have a rare association with life-threatening blood clots in the lungs. 4) Large fibroids that continue to develop may be an indication of a rare malignant growth termed a leiomyosarcoma, which occurs in fewer than 1% of uterine fibroids.
