Despite being the current WWE women’s world champion, Becky Lynch’s tenure may not last long.

Despite the fact that Lynch’s current contract with WWE expires at the end of May, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful revealed that she has not yet signed a new contract. The 37-year-old and the other party have been in talks for a while, but they haven’t been able to reach an agreement.

Later this month, Lynch will challenge Liv Morgan to a live King and Queen of the Rings match to defend her world title. There is a high probability that Lynch will give that title to Morgan in the absence of a new agreement.

Even if Lynch and WWE may be playing chicken during contract negotiations, her departure would come as a huge surprise. Seth Rollins, her spouse, recently resigned on a huge new deal. Lynch claimed she had no intention of wrestling for another promotion when she spoke with Ariel Helwani of the MMA Hour, so it seems odd that she would want to split ways with Rollins.
